Friday March 30th:
The last day here, and it’s a travel day. Photos are complete for another year. The equipment is packed away, and the sadness of leaving our southern home washes over us. We have the fond memories, and will try to take a bit of the love and sun we feel here, back to our home in MN!
The morning brings the forecasted overcast skies and very light wind, looks like rain here and there out on the ocean. A perfect day to leave, the sky is crying and this helps sooth the pain of leaving to have your friend the wind share the burden with you. Still I had 85% of my trip sailed on a 6.4 or smaller, and 75% of the 42 day trip on 5’s or less!! An amazing percentage for a 230lb sailor!! And I dug every minute of it! I can hardly wait to come back next year!!
As we depart today at 10:45am for our noon flight on the first leg home this morning, we make some final visits to the beach for the last goodbyes and to wish everyone to come again next year, as we will be back for sure! The soggy El Yaque helps with the ease of departure, but we will miss the beautiful room and life the El Yaque club offered us while we stayed, and the great friends of Steve, Mary Luz, and all the others that made our home away from home such an amazing experience, and so comfortable!! We love you all, and wish you the best!!
Tom had offered us a ride to the airport last night, so we were quick to take up on that! The customer service is par excelance!! Tommy loaded us up in his ride, and we said our final goodbyes, and some last banter on the short drive to the airport. After some final hugs, and a see ya next year, it was off to return to our home. The doggies are waiting, and we can hardly wait to see them!!
