Friday March 23rd:

Yet another day in windsurf paradise!  The morning is filled with bird song and swaying palms as I make breakfast of cereal and some fruit.  The day is off to a good start, it’s windy already, and it looks like another big day for surfing.

The typical stroll to the center to visit with the many friends starts the morning off right.  The GPS speed trials were in full swing, and the new Garmin ForeTrex units are working well.  The racers are out already, logging in the high speeds for the day.  It’s always amazing how competitive folks get when they put the speed monitor on the arm!!

The water was filled with sailors at 1pm, so it was off to take some snaps!  Plenty of willing subjects made for a short hour of photo fun.  I was done and back to the center by 2 pm.  See windsurf photos here.  I waded back to shore to join Connie ripping it up out on the water with a 72Lt Maui Project, and a 4.0M.

Now it’s my turn!  I grabbed a 78 lt and the 5.0M, a very rare combo for the 230lb sailor, and was so amazed at the speed, jumps, and most of all jybes I could make!!  I can see why folks love the small stuff out here!!  I had such fun on this kit!!  This is the smallest set of equipment I have yet to be on this season!!  The board jibes on thought, you hardly have to try!!  Totally digging the ride for the entire rest of the afternoon, right up to 5pm or a little after!  Mon dats good!

The dinner plans had been made for another BBQ at Casa de Nora for the evening, and Connie and I made a short happy hour before heading up to get ready.  Tom and Kathy picked us up for the short drive over, and we brought along David for good measure, as it was his last night on the island.

Nora’s spread was again so darn good!  Al was working the BBQ, and Kathy had brought some amazing salads, and soon the entire table was filled with happy campers feasting on the superb comida.  The beer and wine with the meal hit the spot, and the discussion afterwards is always fun and lively.  Thanks so much Nora and Al!  Truly, great friends.  Before we knew it, it was almost eleven, and time to let folks get off to sleep.  We departed full and content.  My compliments to the chefs!

David and Kathy wanted to check out the party at Los Piratas, while Connie and myself wanted the bed for rest.  Tom dropped them off, and then kindly took us home to sleep.  Another great day in El Yaque!

Hasta Mañana,

Timoteo y Connie
