Saturday March 17th:
Another day of fun in the sun! Time to wake up!! The breakfast of fruit, toast, juice and coffee hits the spot, and we are off to start another day.
Wind is looking good this morning as I type the blog up, and Connie is soon sun-screened and off to the beach, as I finish up.
The local crowds show up for Saturday, and the people watching is in prime season, as I get down to the Vela center. Plenty of social discussion and banter back and forth with the many friends along the way as I get to the beach.
Folks are already out with some small stuff, and it’s time to snap the action. The water is deep today, so please forgive the lost shots. It is so hard to keep the lens clean in the deep water, but I still managed some nice pics, see the windsurf photos here.
I switched to surf mode, and joined Connie out for some rides on the big blue. I used a 5.2M and 93 lt board, and Connie was on a 4.2M 78lt kit. This was fully powered, and we made the most of it all afternoon. Very good rides, sweet jumps, and even a few jibes! Dug it!
The body was beat, and the center was closing, so I returned to trade the gear for a shower, and to get ready for the party at Bernie’s tonight. I had brought a computer down for him, and his family, and he wanted to show his appreciation with an anniversary dinner at his place. So nice to be invited, and Tom Kathy, Connie and me made the trip towards Porlamar for the feast. Great chilli made by his wife Iglies, and the fun of sharing in the family activities made the night very enjoyable. We even played ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ for an hour or so, very fun night! See Bernie’s Anniversary party photos here.
The night was winding down as we drove back to El Yaque, another day complete, and we were off to bed to rest up for some more fun on Sunday.
