Thursday March 15th:

The day started rather slow for a typical Margi day, lighter than normal winds.  Might be a day of work or lying around on the beach, both just fine for me.

We did some nice fruit for breakfast, and then visited with Nora on the way down to the center.  Fun sharing the last of the cantaloupe with Nora and discussing life on the street corner office.

Once at the center, it was a flurry of activity, and we socialized with several folks coming and going.  There were very light winds, so we did the slow mellow relaxation of beach chairs, and general milling about the beach.  The clouds overhead created a huge ‘sun-dog’ halo around the sun, and I had to try and capture it with the cam (it turned out too!)  As I was lazy, I let Johan from Vela take the camera for awhile, and he was off snapping some of the beach fun for the day, see the beach shots here.

I saw the low wind, and took advantage of same, with some computer repair at Tom and Kathy’s for the afternoon.  Always nice to do some fun work, while there is no big winds to be missing!  We managed to fix the problems, and it was soon time to get back to the beach.

The late afternoon session was totally sailable, and those lucky few who got out for the small window, enjoyed the rides to be had.  The GPS speed trials were still in play, and the final runs were made before the unit was pulled, and the race was over.  A few more had managed to get some good rides in before the end, and it would be awards this afternoon for same.

The group of speedsters was in attendance, as the presentation was given by Tom and Kathy for the awards.  The kids were first, and the t-shirt prizes and awards were given out to Eric & Tim with 13.7 and 12.1 knots respectively.  (Please see the beach shots link above for the photos.)  Next was the men’s division, but as Mary of the women’s division had a faster speed, the guys were hiding, and unwilling to collect their awards, ashamed to be bested by Mary!!

The women’s division was next, and the 2nd place winner was Connie with a speed of 23.3knts, followed by the queen of speed; Mary Vaughan and the blazing speed of 28.2 knots!!  Very fast sailor!  And so competitive!  It was a great time racing about, and we all hailed the queen!

The awards ceremony was complete, and it was on to happy hour.  Karl and Amy had brought a bottle of fine Mexican tequila to share, and we sat down to the bar tables for a session of shots for all!  It was a good thing there was only one bottle!!  We shared the fine flavor, and had a great time socializing away!  Some fun shots of the play on the photo link above, near the end.

Happy hour was more like 2-3hours, and we were super hungry, and a bit tired, so Connie and I joined Lynn and Ginny, along with Mary, Tom and Shawn for a dinner at ATTI restaurant.  The social fun continued, as we sat and waited for the meal, and we had some fun discussion about the day, and the great time had by all.  The food soon came, and was again a great treat for all!  Very tasty!

Tummies full and the day complete, it was off to our homes for bed.  I had plans for a samba show on the roof of the club, and joined some friends there for the party.  It was some amazing dancing and samba drum music, as the dancers led us in the usual fun samba line, and various funny setups for the girls to dance over the guys.  Good fun and great company of friends to share it all, not to mention the amazing view of the stars from the rooftop patio!

The party winded down, and most left to go to bed, while a few of us lingered longer closing the bar and relaxing with the last couple beers.  Tito joined us for discussion, as we finished the evening at the table, off to bed to get horizontal.

Hasta Mañana,

Timoteo y Connie
