Sunday March 11th:
The great feast of El Yaque at Nora and Al’s house from the previous evening was so amazing, and I ate so much, I am still full in the morning!! I wake content and ready to start a new day, super excited to know my wife Connie will be joining me today!!
I rise and open the patio doors, watch the birds from the hammock and forecast the day’s wind. The pelicans are doing less soaring than usual, and the flapping is more frequent, signs of light upper air winds, might be a bit lighter than ‘usual’ today is the summation. Maybe a nap here for a second… yeah……looks a little more windy; Time to get up and motivate!
The visit with Nora and on to the store sets me up with some love, bananas and water, basic ingredients for a great start to the day! After some chat on the street, it’s down to Vela for the investigation of the days activities.
It’s a little slow today, the winds are a tad light, and folks are out doing some freestyle tricks and playing around. I decide to pass on the photos, and just do some big board planning about. I grabbed the 6.9M and a 133lt board for a fun session of giant slalom! This is just like the stuff we get back in MN, and take a day off work for, so I am stoked it came up enough to get out for some fun planning about! I even did the speedo sailing session for an hour to try to get some sun. I’m always covered to prevent sun damage, and the sailor friends here jokingly refer to me as ‘The Great White Buffalo’ from the brilliant white glare from the sun free body! Sorry to make so many lose vision for awhile!! I am also sorry to miss the photo action today, so no media today. L I’ll try again Monday, and in the morning too, so I can get some of the beginners.
It was a super fun afternoon, and it was over for the day, when I got back to shore and saw the time. I visited with Lorenzo, Rodger, David, Lisa, and many more at happy hour before I got ready to go to the airport and pick-up Connie!!
Tom was kind enough to provide the shuttle with his car, and we packed up some cold beer, and off to the PMV airport. We called ahead to order some takeout from Gerry’s restaurant for the return trip on our way out of town, and were soon greeting Connie and on the way back to supper! Very cool! A nice warm welcome to El Yaque for Connie!
The food was hot and ready at the
restaurant, and we took our supper home for a candle lit dinner together. We stopped to visit on the way thru town, and
chatted with a full table of friends before making our way back to the
apartment for a fine dinner of pepper steak and chicken
The feast complete, it was time to finish unpacking and setting up Connie’s living space. Then some wine and a beer for me, as we listened to the sounds of El Yaque from our balcony, with the sounds of the iPod in the background playing our favorite songs. So relaxing, and feels so nice to be back with my love near to share it all! Life is so very good!!
The day wound out, and we were tired, so it was off to bed for some beach fun tomorrow!!
Ciao!
