Saturday March 3rd
The day breaks and the cold fever is gone, I feel much better thank you!
I opened the patio doors and let the morning breeze blow in, very nice to get the fresh sea air, and hear the town waking up for another windy day in Margarita! The morning wind was strong, and forecasts a really nice afternoon!
After some fruit and juice for breakfast, I strolled thru town on my way to the center, chatting and visiting the friends along the way, and joined in with the fun at Vela. The clients were out with the 4’s and 5’s already!! Some good strong stuff out there!
I rigged up with the wetsuit and cam, and got out for some great photos. The water was very deep today, and I had some splashing and stability issues with the waves, so I had to toss a bunch of shots, but still managed a bunch of pretty decent stuff. See windsurf photos here.
The photo session was fun, and stoked me for a ride of my own! I took T&K’s advice, and got out with the 5.2M with a 85lt board. Good combo for the next hour and a half! Plenty of large ramps today, and I used them up, and up, and up!! Wonderful rides, and great air, life is good!!
Before I could get back in, it dropped a notch, and I ended up doing the walk of shame from the second pier. I was joined by many others, so I didn’t feel too bad, and the thoughts of the previous hour’s worth of jumps and ramps, made the bounce along the bottom back to Vela seem like fun. Can’t complain a bit, anytime I am on the small stuff, gotta love it, even if I do need to walk it home!
I could have retried with a 5.7M but opted for the shower, and off to get ready for the big night tonight! First the Vela happy hour on the roof of El Yaque Club for the sunset, moonrise, and then the lunar eclipse! (The best place in town to observe the celestial happenings!) And second the Thai night at the Beach Hotel Resturant!
The Vela folks streamed in to the observation lounge for the free drinks and chips, and we all had a great social hour or so just sharing the awesomeness of the moment! What a grand view of the paradise we love to come back to year after year!! Just beautiful! See the happy hour shots here.
The Lunar eclipse was so cool! I couldn’t get any photos of it, but trust me; a pink moon is a special sight! The thing looks like a balloon floating in the sky! Very special evening on top of my condos! I even invited a group to the room to check out the once in a lifetime digs! They all seemed impressed, and plenty of ‘your spoiled’ comments! Gotta love the luxury!
After the visits and fun at the room, it was off to dinner for some more social fun, and great eats!
Vela had a full table of 20-30 folks, and we made the best of the evening. Some amazing food again, great drinks and plenty of them, and some truly fun people to share it all with!! I just had a great time, and the photos show it! See them here.
The food finished, and the crowd slowly broke up, leaving Rodger, Steve, and I to finish the last of the rum and close the place for the night. We walked the short block home, and each off to bed for more of the same fantastic life of a windsurfer in El Yaque!
Hasta Domingo,
Timo
