Tuesday February 27th

Hey all!  Glad you could stop by!  The morning brought the wind and sun back to our little town of El Yaque, and those of us ready for the fun, got up to greet the day.  I cut up some of my fresh fruit for breakfast, and after posting some, and burning a disk of pics for the center, I went down to the Vela Center to drop off same.  It’s always fun to have the web posted pics on a slide show at the Vela TV!  Sometimes faster than waiting for the internet.

Of course I just had to stop and visit with Nora and Nancy on the way down, and had some fun chat with the beautiful women before getting to the center.  Love the hugs and great banter!  Thanks girls!

The center was buzzing with folks out to accept the GPS speed challenge, and plenty of speeds were up on the board.  I visited for awhile and heard Tom was gonna do video this afternoon, so I got suited up and got out to start things off with some photos.

The wind was nicely filled in, and folks were out on 4’s and 5’s, but still sparse, after a couple days of wind and tired clients!  A bunch of people were in Coche for the day, and that also helped thin things out on the water here.  It was a longer but fun photo session, and Tom was already capturing video as I headed in with my camera full of pics.  See photos here.

I got out for a speed run using the 93lt and the 5.7M, but I just was not tuned in, and only managed a mere 25.5knts, nothing like the 30’s folks had the previous day, and not even near my personal best, but good enough to get on the board.  After the speed runs, I tried a few fun jibes in front of Tom’s Video camera, and of course wiped good!  Gotta wave to the crowd anyway!

The afternoon was promised to the guys for some Footbag, so I finished my air rides and jibes, and made way to the center patio for some late afternoon hacky-sack.  What a fun session of kicking the bag around!  Wicho, Alex, Bernie, William, Joe and I kicked the bag for like an hour!  Some very good stretching and fantastic kicks make the time rush by!

A shower later, and I rushed home to dump the camera, and make ready for the happy hour Video presentation!  Tom and Kathy planned the awards ceremony for the GPS speed trial tonight, and the folks got their seats for the fun.  Tom’s presentation is always a fun time, as he stops the action, to freeze the jibe/tack in mid-turn, and the guesses from the crowd on the completion of same are a laugh!  We had some good and some not so good action to watch, and the fun joking, and congratulations all around helps make the whole event that much more interesting.  A very good time!  Photos here.

The happy hour completed, I met up with Lynn and Ginny, and we made plans for Atti tonight.  Dinner at seven.

We made the short walk up the hill, and were greeted by my friend the waiter Franko from the rooftop restaurant!  Always nice to see a familiar face!  We said our greetings as we sat at table seven for an evening of great food and good friends.  I had the chicken in mustard sauce, one of my favorites, while Lynn and Ginny had some avocado and shimp, before the chicken and steak!  Tasty all around!  Just love the food there.

We then made the walk down to my place for some final computer play, before it was off to bed, another spectacular day in Margi!

Hasta,

Timo
