Friday Feb 23rd
As the day starts, I am still buried in some work, but I have such a sweet office now! Patio doors open, the sounds of the beach waking up, and the wind with it, makes the fresh fruit and cold milk on my cereal taste just that much better!
I send a bunch of emails while sneaking a glance or two out the view to the patio off to the left for the wind conditions out on the sail area, and work the final problems out for work, and around noon get off to the beach.
I met and chatted with a few folks here and there as I made my way down to the Vela office. The Vela Boyz greet me with the usual customary hand shakes and the great fun of the banter back and forth, and some kidding around mixed in to keep it fun and lively! The warm welcome brings me behind the counter for a hug from Kathy, and I make ready to get a round of photos of all the fun on the water.
The weather conditions have returned to normal, and the wind is coming back to the ‘normal’ Margi winds of 4 and 5’s instead of the 6-7 it has been for the past few days. The folks were out making great fun, and I snapped up some of the mid-day action on the water. See photos here. Some fun shots as I edited thru them, and made ready to post. An amazing photo session for he first real one of this year!!
Once the memory card was full with some 545 pics, I headed to shore to get me some of that sail action! I grabbed a 122lt and put it on the beach, and after some chat, I saw what I thot was a 6.4M coming in, and made a deal for two beers later if I could take it, he agreed (Thanks Dude!) so I grabbed it, snapped it on the board, and made off to the salty waters for a ride.
And what a ride!! I was screaming back and forth, rusty on all operations, but still doing just fine after a year since the last sail!! (Too much work!) I surprised myself how well I was doing on a 6.4m in these conditions! Then some 10-15 runs back and forth, I blew a jibe, and saw the sail number on my way past into the water on splashdown, did I see that right…Ohh Man! It’s a 6.9m! No wonder I got so much sweet power! It was good that I had taken the larger sail, I’m about 10 lbs more than last year, (See work excuse above.) and I was out for the first time in a year, so I was thankful for the extra power.
Even so, I was tired after about 2-3 hours, and as the wind went home, I was forced to as well. Good thing, my baby hands could not have taken much more! Sore in all the right places, I trod my equipment back to Vela and hit the showers. So nice after a saltwater session, cool refreshing aqua! The day done, I simply made it home for some happy hour at ‘The Sky Club’ on top of El Yaque club.
The sunset happy hour is again the
best view in town!
I missed going out for dinner, as I got busy with the computer, and just made a couple sandwiches, before finishing the days work, and off to bed. Still windy tonight, looks great for Saturday!! See ya then!
Hasta..
