Tuesday Feb 20th
Did I say 9am for the grocery run?!?!? The phone ringing wakes me, and for the first 3 attempts I somehow think it’s the alarm, and try to press snooze! Up too late playing pool!! Finally I answered and it was Mary Luz and in the sweetest voice asked me if I was going to Porlamar with Roxy. I of course forgot, and simply said, Yes, I’ll be right down.
Needless to say I had a bit of spider web in the brain for the start of the day, But after some fresh juice, and a quick face wash, it was off to Sigo for some food. I was the driver, and using Wicho’s car, Roxy and I went to Porlamar. The first time I have ever got to drive into town! I’ve had the chance to drive back a few times, but not once in eleven years here have I driven into town! Too Cool!
The trip was very fun, as I had been into town with a taxi or friends a ton of times, and knew the way, but had Roxy lead me on, so I could practice my Spanish the whole way into town! I just love the immersion, and the sights, sounds, smells all come back from previous visits to reinforce the great experience! I feel a bit like a giant white alien, after a hard night playing pool! But with Roxy loading the cart with food, we blended right in, and I loaded up on fresh fruit and the usual staples for the next week or so.
After the groceries, we visited radio shack for a cable for my stereo, but no luck, so it was off to El Yaque to unload. We stopped at their house first and visited the family again as we unloaded the bags. After some fun visiting and discussion, I took Wicho’s car back to my place, and got to leave it there, as he would pick it up after work at Vela. How cool is that!! No cost to me but the food and a little time!! Too frickin sweet!
The morning had given in to noon, and I was done storing all the food away, as I settled in to the hammock for a wind condition monitor session. A short nap later, I was noticing the wind was better than yesterday, but still not the typical Margi winds. I opted for some more work, and soon it was late afternoon before I got to the beach.
The day had been plane-able, but with the big stuff, still there was quite a bit of ripping going on, and this is what brought me down to the beach. I was soon just chatting and discussing the day, and never even got out. Still, a productive day, while there is no wind, can be a hidden blessing in my eyes!
Steve, Tito, and Mary Luz were throwing a free happy hour on the roof of the El Yaque Club, where the pool area was having its grand pre-opening Sky Club Party. I was lucky enough to get an invite, so it was off to the room for a shower and then on to the party!
Free drinks, plenty of chips and such, and a view without equal!! See photos here!! This is so spectacular as the sun sets! I can’t believe I am here!! And they brought beer!! I snapped a few quick shots, and chatted till the sun went down before I got invited over to Tom’s house for chili!! Such kind friends Tom and Kathy are! So it was off to my place for some equipment checks, and then on to Tom and Kathy’s for supper.
A simply awesome meal, and a call to Connie at home rounded out the evening to a more quite night for me tonight. So much fun for one day, and I didn’t even sail! I grabbed some more techno-parts Tom had saved for me, and made it home to set-up my whole workstation on the new office table Steve had got me. Soon I had it all set-up, and it is amazing! It’s very similar to my office back home, but with a much better view!! This will work!!
And another day comes to a close, hasta..
