Sunday Feb 18th

The day is off to a great start, room service for breakfast, and the view out my patio doors is so amazing!  To be able to see the surf area while typing on the keys is such a great tool for wind judgement!  I can tell right when it’s best to ride, and make the move when nature calls!!

I was still getting the southern office in place, and the movement of equipment and goods back and forth consumed a bunch of the day, but I was just having so much fun meeting everyone again, the wind decided to lighten up and reduce the desire to get out on the water, and increase the desire to check out the town!

With the celebration of Carnival in progress, it was surprisingly more crowded in town than expected. This made for some great people watching, and quite the fun day for land activities.  I made the trip thru Vela and then on thru town to snap some of the new El Yaque scene for those cold footed friends of mine in the cold climes north of here!  This is just some of what you can expect when you get here, or if you could.  See photos here.

Not much else but some walking around town and moving some of my new workstation into place in the office.  (For the tech-no-geeks, I’ll give you a shot once it’s set up.)  So I made a dry day of it all, and after some beach chat with friends Beecher, Steve, Gerry at the bar/restaurant, Tom and all the guys at my Vela office, new folks Bill and family, and  many more, I got home with my toys, and showered for happy hour.

The bar was a hoppin, and I sat for a plate of spicy chicken Thai style!  With a side of fries to share with friends, I talked for a few hours with Leo, Miguel, Gerry, Justin, and so many more.  The beers and a few Caesar’s later, I was tired, but wanted to check out the Reggae fest tonight at Gaby’s.  I opted for extraction from the table of friends from England, US, and Venezuela, and made for the room and a short nap.

The body refreshed, I put on the ‘dress’ clothes, (Nicer beach shorts, and a shirt with buttons, along with sandals.)  and made way for the party!  A stiff cover, but with a drink and a live band, a great deal for the fun.  I was soon talking to old friends, and sharing some fun with new ones!  I was late to the party, but still had a great couple hours chatting, dancing w/ Gaby and just general fun!

I found Tom and Holly from the first day at the airport, and along with Steve and Miguel, we had a fun BS session, and shared a few beers before Steve, Tom, Holly and I made the short walk home.  A nice clear night, and the sweet ocean breeze blowing past us as we walked up the street was so nice and warm, with fun conversation and great friends it was a great way to end the day!
