Saturday April 2

Ahhh!  Another sweet morning!  Some great breakfast with Connie and a few friends at the terrace!  We feasted and discussed days past and the probability of some more fun today!  Plenty of stories, and even some fresh eggs and arapas from Del Valle!  Such a good cook!  We thanked her with kisses and a hug for making another fantastic start to the day!

We slowly made our way to the beach, and got a call from Bernie about the possibility of a massage this afternoon!  Too cool!  I gladly accepted the chance, and scheduled a 4 pm session!  Just love the massage, and offered it to Connie, if she could pry herself away from the sailing on the first day!

At the center, I played with the laptop in the office for a bit, and made plans for an early afternoon photo session.   I informed as many as I could on the way out, that it was photo time!  I stood in the shallows, about waist deep, some 300 meters out in front of Vela, and caught some very nice action!  Plenty of willing models to perform for the camera!  Some fun psyching up the sailors as they pass in front of the lens!  The local guys really go nuts when I am standing there, and I really have to concentrate to catch it all!  Some nice close-ups!  See them here.

Connie had started the day with a 5.7M sail and the 98 lt JP for an hour, then had the 5.2M and the 91Lt for the photo session, and finally had come in as I finished the shoot, to get a 4.7M and the 84 Lt!  Nothing like trying everything in stock for the first day!  She was fired up, and I joined in with the 98Lt and the 5.7M for the afternoon ride!

The wind was a bit gusty on the inside, but very filled in and smooth on the outside!  Connie and I sailed a few rounds together, and then it was time for her to get back, and make ready for a massage.  I sailed on, and soon met up with Lorenzo and Eric in the shallows near the beach.

We gathered into a ‘windsurf pod’ and headed out for a side by side free ride together!  What a complete blast!  With each jump the others in the pod would sound off in approval, making the next attempt that much more intense!  We were like a pod of dolphin, breaching in sequence across each fat swell in our path!  Each of us would jump, and land on plane, flying at near full speed!  All within a couple mast-lengths of each other!  So much fun we hardly noticed we were soon some 5 miles from shore!  The waves on the outside were amazing, and you feel so confident having sail buddies nearby, in the event of any failure, that you can sky off each ramp with full flourish!

The session was so much fun!  I finally had enough, and hooted as I jibed back towards shore.  Lorenzo and mike followed in succession and we were on our way back, racing for shore!  The ride back in was filled with ramp and swell rides, carving and slicing them as you rode!  Soon both of the other guys were catching up, and I had to put the hammer down!  I was able to slowly pull away, but soon Eric was on my tail!  I think he could have taken me, but opted to let me lead us into shore, for some near beach jibes and a drop in the water to discuss!

We shared the total stoke of a furious session together, and all felt a total rush of endorphins you get after a great session!  MAN! WE Gottta do that again!  After a short chat and rest, we opted for a much shorter version of the above, and still had an awesome time!  What a great day of riding!  I had to come back in just before 5, as I was too tired to continue.  Time for a shower and happy hour!

Again we had some 8-10 folks together on the beach chairs, watching the sunset session some of the local kiters and sailors were having, as we sipped our Kaparinas, Choko-Monkey’s, and beers!  Nothing like feet in the sand as a cool drink nestles in your sore windsurf hands!  Plenty of socializing together as we sat and made dinner plans.

Half of us went for DaRocco Pizza, the other for Mobu Pizza and pasta.  I managed to visit both tables and got to Rally with Lorenzo about the days ride!  We relived the days events and again were full of stoke after just a few minutes of reliving it all!  What a brilliant session!  Their pizza’s arrived, and John and I headed back to Mobu for ours.

All the food was so great, and we were all soon stuffed, and tired from another perfect days session, so it was off to bed!  See ya Sunday!
