Tuesday March 22nd

Great nights sleep, and awoke early to ride the hammock again.  Love to just sway back and forth, palms rustling, birds singing, taking in the start to the day.  Very relaxing!

After a short ride/nap, I’m ready for breakfast!  Eggs today, and who knows what from Del Valle.  I got there earlier than normal, around 9:30, and actually saw other guests!  I fixed a plate of eggs and fruit, and sat down near the terrace edge to feel the breeze.

I had just finished my plates, when Del Valle comes out with another plate of food!  It looks like a fried chicken breast, and some of the local corn pancakes!  I explain, I might not be able to finish this, as I just ate, but I’ll try!  She said not a problem; she just loves to cook for me!  She explained it was called a Maite (sp), made from fish!  I normally don’t eat much seafood, just not a fan, but this was some kind of good!  Very tasty mash of fish and onions, maybe with some corn meal, squished and fried flat, about ½” thick.  I actually thought it was chicken, and had just not heard her say it was made from fish!

I finished half my plate at least, and brought my dishes back to say thanks!  I gave mi esposa de Margarita a big hug, and thanked her for making me so fat!  She explained that you can eat well, when you surf a lot!  Another gal chimed in and said ‘if you keep it up, he will be fat by the time his wife gets here!’ as we all laughed.

Content and full from a hearty breakfast, it was time to do some email and such from the comfort of the hammock!  Laptop in position, beautiful terrace office view, I detail the events of the past couple days.  What a great work environment!  Gotta love it.

With my writing complete, and the wind picking up, it was now time to get to the beach.  I arrived to some nice 5.5M or less conditions, around 1pm.  Excellent time for photos!  Plenty of wind for all to work with!  I got suited up, and waded out to the willing models!

Another brilliant session of action photo after action photo!  So many subjects to choose from, and all doing so well!  Alex wanted me to catch him looping, and we made good strides with it!  I caught several nice shots!  Plenty of sailors frozen to memory bytes!  Photo Gallery here.

My hat-wind-o-meter was saying 5.0M for me now, and the card was full on the camera, so it was time to get a ride for myself!  I got out with a 98lt JP, and a 5.0M NP sail.  The beach was filled with Santa Semana spectators, and I waded on thru to the fine wind out 50 ft or so.  Simply popped up the sail, and I was off!  It was WINDY!

The next two and a half hours was pure bliss!  So many tasty ramps, and plenty of wind, that the jumping was as simple as pointing over a wave!  You could not help but fly!  I chased plenty of others, back and forth, jumping the waves on the way out, and riding them on the way back!  What a total blast!  Just love to slide up and down the smooth faces, surfing, cutting, surfing!  So much fun on the small stuff, turns like a dream!

My arms began to ache, and I kept promising to go in, if I blew this jibe on the inside, but I kept making them, and just couldn’t stop!  Met Miguel on the water, and got to sail with one of the fastest sailors in El Yaque!  Even passed him for a few seconds, only to be blown away when he put the hammer down!  Very fun stuff!

I finally had to stop, as I was no longer in top surf condition, starting to miss jibes, and unable to get upwind.  I was so toast anyway; I just wanted to relax now!  So I made my way thru to the center, and relished the session in my shower!  Feels so good after a long salty ride!  I then dried off, and made my way to the beach bar.

I was starving, and opted for some food and drink, while relaxing and doing some people watching!  Plenty of people in El Yaque to watch this week of Santa Semana!  So fun to see so many kinds and types, and all was having fun!  It’s like carnival!

Met up with David again and we decided on Mobu for some pizza.  We got in early, before the rush, and had another awesome Tropico Latinina pizza!  I even managed to save half of mine for later!

I was still beat from the day, and too tired again to go out, (nursing a small throat cold.) so I headed home to Casa Rita, and to bed early for a change!  Before 10!  I’ll be good and ready for tomorrow!  Write you then!
