Thursday March 17th

I stayed up late playing with email and the web page, till about 3-4am!  Had a good time posting and writing the past couple days of fun down!  Plenty of photos and web stuff to play with!  Had a great time recreating the new site for this year!  About time!  Been a bit lazy!

I did manage to get up for breakfast, just in time!  Still a good spread and I feasted under the palms, on the terrace again.  Had the place to myself, and relaxed with my coffee while listening to the birds and all!  Another great day in paradise!

After some more computer work/play, it was on down to the center for some beach play!  The wind was lookin good for noon, and I made my way over to the center for some more photo techno play, out on the water snapping surf shots while Tom captured some video of the Vela clients, for an hour or so, before filling the card, and getting out for my own session.  See the Surf Pics Photo Gallery.

I got out on a 6.4M with a 105lt board, for a good hour or two!  Very filled in, and some tasty ramps on the outside!  I managed a bunch of air time for the afternoon!  Man! I love to jump!  And the new boards love to fly!  Very fun time!  Really missed that over the last 5 months!

I really haven’t let it all out yet, but already have had some huge AIR!  Some nice 3ft sharp ramps on the outside!  Well, those freestyle boards are so comfy in and out of the water; you just can’t help but just float down off a nice 6-8ft hop, gliding down to a smooth bounce-onto-plane, and rip on to the next one!  How totally awesome!  It’s tough to keep myself from doing too many in a row just yet, until my ‘flight control’ muscle memory gets fully tuned in!

After a great session ‘till closing, a sailing buddy and I talked a few others into meeting for dinner at Atti restaurant for the evening.  We gathered a group of 6 of us for supper, and stuffed ourselves on some very tasty assortment of superb food!  Very content, we split up and I and a few others headed out for Gabby’s bar, to see what might be the fun for the night!

It was the usual crowd, and the plan was to go meet there and then have a batch of us go out to the new hotspot on the island, Kami Beach!  Ladies night, and some of my local buddies said it was not to be missed!  Always a big turnout and plenty of people watching, and some awesome dancin’ to be had!

David and I agreed, sounds like a fun time!  We grabbed a taxi, and worked out a deal for the ride over and back, and headed to the north side of Margarita!  Fantastic fun, chatting with Jose our driver, working on our Spanish skills!

We arrived around midnight to a beautiful beachside bar/lounge/disco!  Like nothing I have yet seen!  A center area where you enter, and huge dance floor, surrounded by beachside tents, hammocks, couches, and many places to sit and relax, sprinkled with 3 or four various bars, and even a kitchen!  What a spread!  Very nice!

After some exploring of the place to see all the different areas, I broke out the cam, and started some Party photo shooting of the place, trying to capture the fun that was going on!   So many of the folks from El Yaque, and so many more locals!  What a happinin place!  We had a blast people watchin, chattin, and even plenty of dancing here and there!  Great dance music, and what a sound system!

Even as awkward as talking pictures is at a place like this, I had so many willing people to hamm for the camera!  We got plenty of great shots of the fun, see the Kami Beach, Party Photo gallery.

After so much fun we finally got tired enough to get back home!  Got to bed by 4am, but feeling great from plenty of dancing!  Ready for the rest of the day!
