Today was windy right out of the gate! Plenty of palms leaves rustling for the morning awakening looks like another big day ahead! The breakfast was just what I needed, as I had slept thru dinner last night. I filled my plate with the huevos rancheros, slathered them with habenero sauce, and stuffed myself! Washed it down with fruit juice and plenty of fresh fruit! Breakfast of champions!
I was lucky
enough to meet a couple new guests for breakfast, and shared a table and
conversation with Heidi from
After the satisfying food and conversation, it was time to make ready for the beach. I slowly prepared for the day, and got down to the beach by 11 or so. The wind was already 5.7m or less, and I opted for another photo shoot. Still having fog on lens problems, but again managed some pretty decent pics:
The photos were fun again; lots of Whoo Hoos and such as sailors went by! Thanks for being such good subjects! I really dig the expressions on their faces!
I was getting pushed about on the water from the wind, and Ally sailed by yelling, ‘it’s time to sail!’, so I shut down and made for the equipment rack.
I chose a 80l 250cm style and the 5.2m, and was off to the water. What a ride! It was full on rippin wind again this afternoon! I was sailing and jumping for a half hour, when I remembered I had planned on doing a heart rate monitor run on a jump session. I raced back to shore, strapped on the monitor, and again hit it hard, to see if the jumping sailor truly gets an aerobic workout!
As you can see by the graph, each run out thru the port ramps raises the rate significantly, and the rides back in are a bit easier, as I can’t jump starboard as much. You can see each round trip plainly on the graph! Yes Lorenzo, as promised, it is aerobic, and here’s the graph to prove it!
This was monitored using a Polar S410 heart rate monitor, and the PC Coach software. The colors are my personal aerobic levels, and help show when the rate is higher. My average was 130 and the max was 154, very similar to a Nordic Track session! I have always wanted to try this for the 5 or 6 years I have owned a monitor, just never got around to it. Lorenzo, hope you enjoyed it!
The entire session was full on rockin! I again caught up with Doug, and we rode the big ramps on the outside for plenty of frequent flyer miles! Some huge sick fat air man!!! Look Ma, I can fly!!! What a complete blast! I sailed ‘till my arms and shoulders were screaming to stop! What a day!!!
The water and beer at happy hour was welcome relief to my dry body! I chatted and socialized, until 6 or so, and then made the walk up to get ready for supper at Atti. I joined Heidi, Pete, Liana, and Mike for some mustard chicken and fries, along with various other feastin’s. All were happy sailors after a filling, delicious meal! Content, we each went off to bed. Ready to ride, rinse, repeat another day!
